BCU bags 10 medals in the YMCA Olympics

Snatching four gold, three silver and three bronze medals, the Baguio Central University having two teams ranked fourth and fifth overall in the YMCA Academic Olympics held at the YMCA Baguio last October 21-22, 2017.
For the On-the-spot Drawing, Christian Dave Bustos (COE) ranked first place while Corlo Rafael (COE) bagged silver medal. Peter John Esden (CTELA) grabbed first place in the Extemporaneous Speech and a first place in Vocal Duet with Chyna-li Fagsao (CTELA).
Joven Wadwachan (COE) snatched second place in the Essay Writing Contest while Liela Mulles (CTELA) placed third. For the Oratorical Speech, Judy Ann Saleo-an (CBA) bagged silver medal. Meanwhile, Marco Usi and Kimberly Albatera (both from CTELA) ranked third; Ivy Taguiling and Renz Mark Cabanero, fourth place, in the Ballroom Dance Contest.
For the Team Quiz Bee, Janmer Louie Perez, Tirus Cloyd Bambalan and Danielle Melchor ranked fourth place. Alexis Cyrish Dasalla, team B, also fourth place in Extemporaneous Speech with Jerome Francia and Claudess Lapic in Vocal Duet.
First placers will represent Benguet Province in the YMCA Regional Academic Olympics slated on November 2017.
The conduct of the annual YMCA Academic Olympics is a tri-level literary-musical competition aimed in providing venue for the development, of the youth in the mind, body and spirit where students can share their talents and skills in the arts and sciences, as well as their experiences and insights for the youth to be more responsive to the needs of time.
This year’s theme, “A Call to Servant Leadership,” was organized by the Young Men’s Christian Association of the City of Baguio, Inc.
