As BCU prepared this year’s Inter-School Bridge Building Competition, 11 teams from BCU, 3 teams from University of Baguio (UB) and 3 teams from the University of the Cordillera (UC), a total of 17 teams, went face to face in constructing a bridge of their own design deciding which one has the best performance of them all, wherein a team from UC has emerged victorious over the rest in the competition. Following them in 2nd is the team of Ronald Cambod, June Guzman, PeromeGano, Gregorio Longog and Arlo Anthony Fonite, and for 3rd place is the team of James Belwa, Edson Titiwa, Godoy Balbin, Kent Kimmayong, and LeehmarkBalusdan, Both from the university.
In the Bridge Building, each team was required to construct a miniature bridge that must qualify the following criteria. The bridge should be made only from the materials provided, for this year’s competition, the materials used are rubber bands and stick brooms. Second, the bridge must follow certain dimensions so that a text box can pass through. Finally, the judging is done through weighing the bridge on a scale and going through the strength test by suspending the bridge and putting additional weights on the bridge. Then the bridge with the best strength to weight ratio is considered the winner.
